36th Hong Kong Book Fair to Feature 'Cultural Legacy - Joyful Journeys' Theme, Concurrent Sports and Snack Expos

The 36th Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from July 15 to 21 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Running concurrently with the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks, the three fairs are expected to host over 770 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions, providing a one-stop destination for culture, sports, and leisure.

This year's theme, 'Cultural Legacy - Joyful Journeys,' aims to inspire readers to explore traditional culture in modern society through reading and travel. Jenny Koo, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, stated that the theme encourages immersion in cultural and eco-tourism, broadening horizons. Over 600 cultural events will be held at the fairground and across the city, including seminars, exhibitions, and activities.

Key highlights include the 'World of Art & Culture' zone featuring the 'World in Words, A Voyage of the Heart' exhibition, which connects Hong Kong stories with world literature through six interactive setups. The 'International Publishing Forum' and 'IP Roundtable' will address industry trends. Eight seminar series will feature renowned writers such as Liu Zhenyun, Su Tong, and Bi Feiyu, as well as overseas authors like Luke Kennard. The ASEAN Literary Festival, introduced for the first time, will foster cultural exchange with authors like Eka Kurniawan.

The Cultural and Creative Space returns with pavilions from Fujian, Hangzhou, and Hong Kong exhibitor Tsi Ku Chai. Chinese mainland publishers will present about 20,000 publications, spotlighting Yunnan province. The Hong Kong Jockey Club will set up a themed exhibition area promoting healthy lifestyles. Community initiatives include Sino Group's 'Joyful Reading Lucky Rewards' campaign and 'Fun Reading Day' organized by the Hong Kong Chinese Importers’ & Exporters’ Association.

The Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo will feature sports experiences and edutainment, including the 'Fit & Fearless Challenge' and interactive animal encounters from My Mini Zoo. The World of Snacks will offer over 1,300 snacks from nearly 30 countries, including local brands like Amore Hand Baked and innovative products from Do Did Dust.

A single ticket grants access to all three events, with adult tickets priced at HK$30. Special discounts include morning admission tickets (HK$10), a Super Pass (HK$88) for unlimited entry, and tourist tickets (HK$20). To celebrate HKTDC's 60th anniversary, a '60 Book Fair Super Passes' giveaway will be held via Facebook.
