Advanced Behavioral Health Opens Hagerstown Office, Expanding Mental Health Services to Washington County

Advanced Behavioral Health, Inc. (ABH) has opened a new outpatient office in Hagerstown, marking its first expansion into Washington County, Maryland. The office, located at 265 Mill Street, Suite 800, began serving patients on September 1, 2026. This move extends ABH's reach to six counties, providing Washington County residents with access to the same standard of clinical care available at its other locations.

The expansion underscores ABH's commitment to meeting Maryland clients where they are, according to Vera Kurdian, CEO of ABH. "Serving families and supporting communities one individual at a time is what we do best," Kurdian said. "This expansion allows us to build a collaborative partnership in Washington County, where families can expect high-quality and timely mental health and psychiatric services. This expansion also provides job opportunities for mental health professionals, from an organization as committed to its employees as it is to its patients."

The new Hagerstown office offers a range of services, including onsite and offsite individual and family therapy, school-based therapy, telehealth counseling, and psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Patients and referring providers can contact the office at 301.345.1022.

ABH also plans to introduce its Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) to the Hagerstown office once Maryland's PRP moratorium lifts, expected in 2027. This will further build out the continuum of care available to Washington County residents, ensuring comprehensive support for those with mental health needs.

The opening of the Hagerstown office is a significant step in addressing mental health access in rural and underserved areas. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately one in five U.S. adults live with a mental illness, yet many face barriers to receiving care, including geographic distance from providers. By establishing a presence in Washington County, ABH aims to reduce these barriers and provide timely, high-quality services to a population that previously had limited local options.

ABH is a multisite outpatient behavioral health organization with locations in Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George's, and now Washington Counties. The organization offers a comprehensive continuum of care, including individual and group therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management, telehealth services, youth therapeutic mentoring, and community schools programming. ABH accepts major insurance, Medicaid, and maintains a discounted fee program to ensure that no individual is denied access to care due to inability to pay, with eligibility requirements.

Recognized as a Top Workplace in 2024, 2025, and 2026, ABH is committed to clinical excellence, cultural competency, and expanding access to behavioral health services throughout the state. The new Hagerstown office not only expands access to care but also brings employment opportunities to the region, aligning with ABH's dedication to its employees and the communities it serves.
