Affordable American Insurance (AAI) has announced the hiring of Salvatore Morello as Executive Vice President of Agency & Carrier Relations, effective immediately. Morello brings more than two decades of leadership experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry, most recently serving as Vice President of Personal Insurance Field Sales Operations at Travelers Insurance. In that role, he led national sales operations and field enablement across seven regions representing approximately $17 billion in direct written premium.
In his new position, Morello will oversee AAI's agency and carrier strategy, focusing on scaling operations, enhancing partner relationships, and driving consistent, profitable growth across the company's network. This role is central to AAI's continued expansion and its commitment to delivering best-in-class support to its agencies and carrier partners. AAI operates as a scaled insurance agency network platform, supporting independent agencies across approximately 40 states.
Chris Fernandez, AAI's President & CEO, commented on the appointment: "Salvatore's depth of experience, strategic mindset, and track record of execution make him an exceptional addition to our leadership team. We are excited to welcome him as we continue building a differentiated and scalable insurance platform." Morello expressed enthusiasm about joining AAI, stating, "I am extremely excited to join such a distinguished organization and honored to be a part of a leadership team committed to supporting the independent agency distribution channel. I look forward to bringing my experience to the team and am focused on driving long-term profitable growth for both our agents and carrier partners."
Morello's appointment underscores AAI's strategy to invest in top-tier talent as it accelerates nationwide growth. The company, founded in 2005, helps independent agencies thrive through a platform that includes centralized operational, legal, and technology support, access to a national array of carrier appointments, enhanced commission economics, and profit-sharing programs. AAI also operates a Retail Agency Division that writes and services its own book of business through a dedicated support team.
The hiring of a seasoned executive like Morello is significant for the insurance industry, particularly for independent agencies. It signals AAI's commitment to strengthening relationships with carriers and agencies, which is crucial for navigating the competitive landscape. Morello's experience at Travelers, a major carrier, positions him to bridge the gap between carriers and agencies, potentially leading to more favorable terms and support for AAI's network. This move could also spur consolidation among agency networks as they seek experienced leaders to drive growth and operational efficiency.
