Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) announced results from drillhole CDH008 at the Cobrasco Project in Choco, Colombia, which further confirms the northwest extension of the Cobrasco copper-molybdenum mineralized system. The hole returned 272 meters at 0.50% copper, 75 parts per million molybdenum, and 1.92 grams per tonne silver from 52 meters downhole, including 152 meters at 0.67% copper from 54 meters. This intercept begins near the surface and is associated with multiple mineralized porphyry phases and magmatic-hydrothermal breccias.
Drillhole CDH008 was drilled due north from the same platform as previous holes CDH006 and CDH007, testing the northern continuity of shallow mineralization. The hole reached a depth of 652.25 meters and intersected a leached cap with intense supergene alteration over intermineral rhyolite porphyry. Below the leached zone, a 30-meter interval with chalcocite coating hypogene sulphides suggests incipient secondary copper enrichment. The strongest mineralization is linked to potassic and sericite-altered hydrothermal breccias, where chalcopyrite occurs as matrix infill and cross-cutting veinlets, with bornite locally observed.
Two additional drillholes have been completed from the same platform: CDH009 (finished, assays pending) and CDH010 (in progress). Both target northwest and west-southwest extensions, respectively. Visual logging indicates sulphide mineralization consistent with the broader Cobrasco Central system. The mineralized footprint now extends approximately 1,100 meters along strike and 550 meters laterally, remaining open in all directions.
“We continue to systematically advance a wide-spaced scout drilling programme, actively testing the limits of the Cobrasco system with wide fans of significant step-out drillholes,” said President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen. “The system continues to grow with each successive drillhole, with the mineralization footprint already covering an area of ~1,100m x 550m, and results from CDH009 and CDH010 expected to further extend. Surface geochemistry and field observations strongly suggest that the mineralization continues to the north and northwest and indeed remains open in all directions.”
Preparations are underway for mobilizing a second diamond drilling rig to support the next phase of definition drilling at Cobrasco Central and test new porphyry centers. The company’s Corporate Presentation is available online.
Drillhole CDH008 was collared with PQ size to 126 meters and continued with HQ/HQ3 to final depth. Core samples were sent to ALS preparation facility in Medellin, with pulps analyzed at ALS Lima, Peru. The qualified person for the technical information is Francisco Montes, a consultant of Andina Copper and member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (MAIG #4160).
The Cobrasco Project continues to demonstrate significant expansion potential, with mineralization open in all directions and further step-out drilling planned.
