Angkor Resources Corp. (TSXV: ANK) announced on June 24, 2026, that it has started a 2,800-meter diamond drilling program at the Andong Bor copper-gold target in Cambodia. The program targets the Thmei North (TN) area, a one-square-kilometer copper anomaly, and is scheduled in two phases to align with the Cambodian seasons.
The first phase consists of three 400-meter holes, beginning June 24, 2026, during the current dry-season window. The second phase, comprising the remaining 1,600 meters, will be drilled in early 2027 once fields are dry and crops harvested. The initial holes will be oriented eastward to better intersect mineralized beds, based on structural insights from 2025 drilling that revealed north-northwest striking, steeply west-dipping mineralization controls.
Dennis Ouellette, VP Exploration, explained that the eastward orientation maximizes interception of potassic-altered sediments adjacent to feldspar porphyry diorite dikes, where the best copper mineralization occurs. Core will be logged, photographed, and sampled, with selected intervals sent for assay as the program progresses.
The Andong Bor license spans 100.28 square kilometers across Oddar Meanchey and Banteay Meanchey provinces. Beyond Thmei North, the Thmei South target requires further auger soil geochemistry to extend the copper anomaly and will be the focus of subsequent drill programs.
Angkor Resources is a leading resource explorer and developer in Cambodia, holding two mineral exploration licenses and advancing oil and gas exploration under its subsidiary EnerCam Resources Co., Ltd. The company's oil and gas license in Block VIII covers approximately 4,095 km², and it recently completed 2D-seismic and an Environmental Impact Assessment for drilling targets.
This drilling program represents a significant step in delineating copper-gold resources at Andong Bor. The results could provide crucial data on the mineralized system's extent and grade, potentially enhancing the project's economic viability and attracting further investment. As Cambodia continues to develop its mining sector, successful exploration at Andong Bor could position the country as a emerging source of copper and gold, supporting regional supply chains.
