BRAIN Biotech AG Names Dr. Sven K. Weber as New CEO, Succeeding Adriaan Moelker

The Supervisory Board of BRAIN Biotech AG has appointed Dr. Sven K. Weber as the new Chairman of the Executive Board (CEO), effective October 1, 2026. He will succeed Adriaan Moelker, who has led the company for the past six years and will retire at the end of his contract term on September 30, 2026. Moelker will remain as a senior advisor until January 2027.

Dr. Weber, 44, joins BRAIN Biotech from BASF Group, where he most recently served as Vice President responsible for the global enzyme business (Global Business Unit Feed Enzymes & Feed Performance Ingredients). In that role, he drove innovation-led, profitable growth, significantly increasing revenue and earnings. Prior to that, he was Global Segment Director for the automotive OEM business at Chemetall GmbH and headed contract research at hte GmbH, a provider of high-throughput solutions for R&D workflows. He began his career at Merck Group and holds a diploma and doctorate in chemistry from the University of Heidelberg, along with an executive program in general management from SGMI Management Institute in St. Gallen.

Dr. Michael Majerus, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, thanked Moelker for repositioning BRAIN Biotech as an integrated manufacturing company in the enzyme sector and monetizing projects from the BRAINBioIncubator. He expressed confidence that Weber will continue the strategic direction and accelerate growth. Weber stated his intent to build on the company's strong technological foundation, accelerate growth, and strengthen profitability, aiming to develop BRAIN into a leading provider of specialty enzymes in selected application areas and tap into additional growth potential through the BRAINBioIncubator.

The leadership transition comes as BRAIN Biotech, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (ticker: BNN), reported revenue of €49.6 million in fiscal 2024/25 with around 280 employees. The change signals continuity in the company's strategic focus on specialty enzymes and industrial biotechnology.
