Carson Launches Official Countdown to LA28 with Olympic Clock Unveiling and Youth Celebration

The City of Carson will officially launch its community-wide countdown to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games on Wednesday, June 24, with the Carson Experience launch event and the unveiling of a 700-pound Olympic countdown clock at 9:25 a.m. at Carson Park, located at 21411 Orrick Ave. This event marks the official start of Carson's journey as an LA28 Venue City, hosting multiple Olympic and Paralympic competitions.

Hundreds of Carson youth will join Olympic Gold Medalist Steve Lewis, Team USA Rugby Sevens player Marcus Tupuola, City leaders, and LA28 representatives in a celebration that highlights Carson's Olympic legacy and future. Steve Lewis, who won gold in the 4x400-meter relay at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and silver in the 400 meters, embodies the city's athletic heritage. Marcus Tupuola, a rising star in rugby sevens, represents the next generation of athletes who will inspire local youth.

The Carson Experience initiative aims to connect residents to the Games through community events, activations, and celebrations leading up to 2028. As an official LA28 Venue City, Carson's program will engage the community while showcasing local pride and inspiring the next generation. The nearly 700-pound countdown clock serves as a physical symbol of the city's commitment to the Games and a daily reminder of the excitement ahead.
