Cayenne Wellness Center Hosts 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Educational Summit to Address Sickle Cell Disease in Hispanic and Latino Communities

Cayenne Wellness Center has announced its 5th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Educational Summit, scheduled for September 15–16, 2026, at the Marriott Long Beach Downtown in Long Beach, California, with online attendance options. The two-day event is designed to unite sickle cell warriors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, advocates, and community members to address the unique challenges faced by Hispanic and Latino individuals affected by sickle cell disease.

The summit's timing is significant, coinciding with National Sickle Cell Awareness Month in September and the opening of Hispanic Heritage Month on September 15. This alignment creates an opportunity to highlight the intersection of culture, health, and identity in sickle cell care. The programming will explore how country of origin and genetic background influence community-centered education, while providing practical tools for warriors to advocate for themselves and navigate comorbidities and related health concerns.

A central feature of the summit is a warrior-led roundtable, where individuals living with sickle cell disease will share their lived experiences directly with attendees. The agenda also includes sessions on the transition from pediatric to adult care, as well as breakout discussions focused on men's health, women's health, international sickle cell warriors, and providers and caregivers from domestic and international settings.

Beyond educational sessions, the summit aims to strengthen community relationships through vendor and exhibitor tables, offering opportunities for community-based organizations, healthcare entities, businesses, authors, artists, and educational institutions to share resources and connect with participants. Attendees can register online at Cayenne Wellness Hispanic Heritage Seminar 2026, and vendors can reserve tables at HHVENDOR2026.

The summit is supported by key sponsors, including Beam Therapeutics, Inc. as a GOLD sponsor, and Chiesi USA, Inc. and Global Rare Diseases as SILVER sponsors. Cayenne Wellness Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2000, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with sickle cell disease in California through education, advocacy, and comprehensive care. This event underscores its commitment to advancing health equity and culturally responsive support for underserved communities.
