LOS ANGELES — On Saturday, July 4, L. Ron Hubbard Way became a hub of patriotic celebration as the Church of Scientology of Los Angeles hosted its Stars and Stripes Summer Festival, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. Families from across Los Angeles gathered for an afternoon of carnival games, water slides, and summer activities, drawing both regular attendees and first-time guests, including newcomers to the neighborhood and visitors from outside California.
As the sun set, the festivities transitioned to a concert emceed by actor, comedian, and voice artist Jim Meskimen and actress Amrapali Ambegaokar. Meskimen performed a multi-voice rendition of "America the Beautiful," earning enthusiastic applause. The evening's musical lineup showcased the city's diversity, with performances by bluegrass duo Korey Simeone and Patrick Rieger, soul and gospel singer Prez Blackmon, and Puerto Rican singer Luis Adrian, who delivered vibrant Latin music.
The event took place on L. Ron Hubbard Way, a street named for author, humanitarian, and Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. His humanitarian initiatives have addressed illiteracy, drug abuse, and criminality in Los Angeles and globally. The street has become a venue for community celebrations, cultural festivals, and events that unite people of all backgrounds.
This year's festival honored not only America's 250-year history but also the strength of community, offering families a safe and welcoming environment to celebrate freedom, unity, and neighborly spirit.
