DownTown Mystic Releases 'Mystic Highway Road Trip' EP, Continuing a String of Rock Releases

Sha-La Music has announced the worldwide release of the new Mystic Highway Road Trip EP by US Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic. The Orchard/Sony Music will release the EP to all streaming services worldwide on July 10, just in time for a summer road trip to RocknRollville USA. The EP will be released to US College Radio on July 21, with Brandon Day/Tinderbox Music handling radio promotion.

The Mystic Highway Road Trip EP contains six songs, modern day rockers that are filled with positive vibes and energy that have become the cornerstone of DownTown Mystic's music. Tracks like "Live" (feat. Harpmeister Jerry Fierro) and "Losing My Mind" (feat. guitar virtuoso Lance Doss) bring a message of hope in these turbulent times. The songs are bolstered by the same musicians who played on last year's Mystic Highway EP—the ace rhythm section of drummer Steve Holley (Paul McCartney, Elton John) and bassist Paul Page (Ian Hunter, Dion). Also included is the previously unreleased unedited version of "Somebody's Always Doin' Something 2 Somebody (Uncut Mix)," featuring a stellar performance by keyboard wiz Jeff Levine on piano and B-3 organ.

That track was edited and released as a single last fall prior to the release of the critically acclaimed Mystic Highway EP. It was that acclaim from reviewers that gave DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen the idea for the Road Trip release. Robert explains, "There are so many talented reviewers out there who write with such cool insights that it blows my mind. I kept seeing reviews saying that Mystic Highway was a great soundtrack for a road trip, which I never thought about. It got me thinking, why not a summer road trip release?"

The Mystic Highway Road Trip EP was recorded at the legendary Shorefire Studios in W. Long Branch, NJ under the auspices of Joe DeMaio, who engineered and added his talents on the guitar solos for "Superstar" and "Shadow Walk." The EP was mastered by the legend, Leon Zervos (Crowded House, Maroon 5, Pink) at Studios 301 in Australia, who helped give the tracks his special sonic boost.

DownTown Mystic is coming off the success of the On E Street Remix EP, which features Rock'n'Roll Hall of Famers Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent from The E Street Band. Released in April, the EP featured remixed songs recorded back in the 80s at the same time as the E Streeters were recording the Born In The USA album with Bruce Springsteen. The remixes made the songs sound current and at the same time brought out an historic element not previously known. Robert comments, "Even though the remixes were of older material, the reviewers pointed out that I'm making rock music for today. Thanks to them, it seemed like the perfect time to segue from the past to the present and release some new rock'n'roll."

DownTown Mystic has been on a rock and roll with The Wish and Mystic Highway releases in 2025 and continues the rockin' trend in 2026 with On E Street Remix and Mystic Highway Road Trip. Considered to be one of the top sync-licensed artists in Rock with music in over 250 TV shows and films, those talents are on full display on the new EP. Why not take your own Mystic Highway Road Trip and have a rockin' summer!

"The band's infectious unmistakable vibe, wrapped up with ace musicianship, topped with great songwriting, and delivered with powerful, heartfelt vocals. This is the place to start for timeless rock n' roll!" – JamSphere Magazine. "It's not just about recapturing a sound; it's about reaffirming what makes it endure: strong songwriting, human rhythm, and a refusal to overproduce the soul out of the music." – Rattler Magazine.
