He joined Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1990, later serving as Chairman of its Department of Pathology from 2008 to 2022, and in 2022 became Dean of the School of Medicine. His research has focused extensively on prostate cancer, particularly racial disparities affecting African American men, and he has contributed to more than 200 peer-reviewed publications.
