The Exit Planning Institute (EPI) Wisconsin Chapter announced it will host a Business Owner Forum on September 17 at Westmoor Country Club in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The event, scheduled from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., aims to provide business owners and advisors with actionable insights into successful transition strategies, particularly for family-owned businesses.
This year's forum will focus on family business owner transitions, featuring interviews with two Wisconsin business owners who have successfully transitioned their companies to the next generation, as well as a local business owner who chose to sell their company to a public buyer. These real-world case studies are designed to offer attendees practical knowledge and inspiration for their own exit planning journeys.
“EPI Wisconsin's Business Owner Forums provide a confidential space for discussions with local business owners and industry professionals focused on exit planning,” said Erik Owen, President of EPI Wisconsin. “This year, we are excited to feature in-depth interviews with three family business owners who recently exited their businesses along with expert insights from five advisors who have built successful exit planning practices.”
The forum is structured to benefit both business owners and exit planning professionals. Business owner attendees will learn key strategies for successfully transitioning their business and explore the various options available to them. Meanwhile, financial advisors, business consultants, and other exit planning professionals will gain firsthand accounts from Wisconsin family business owners who are currently undertaking leadership and ownership transitions, providing valuable context for their advisory practices.
The event underscores the growing importance of exit planning in today's business landscape. With a significant number of business owners approaching retirement age, the need for effective transition strategies has never been more critical. For family businesses, these transitions are particularly complex, involving not only financial considerations but also emotional and relational dynamics.
