Frontieras North America, an energy and environmental technology company, has announced a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Cora Terminal, LLC, a joint venture between Watco Companies, LLC and SCH Services, LLC, to develop a multi-phase FASForm™ production facility at the Cora Terminal in Rockwood, Illinois. This agreement signifies a major step forward in the company's mission to redefine coal utilization through its patented zero-waste technology.
The proposed project would initially lease approximately 85 acres for a plant designed to process 7,500 tons of coal feedstock per day, with plans for expansion to about 130 acres for a second plant. At full buildout, the site would receive approximately 5.5 million net tons of coal annually, producing valuable outputs such as FASCarbon™, ultra-low-sulfur diesel, jet fuel, ammonium sulfate fertilizer, sulfuric acid, and naphtha. This diversification of products underscores the versatility and economic potential of the FASForm process, which converts coal and other hydrocarbons into clean fuels and industrial chemicals without generating waste.
This announcement is particularly significant as it marks Frontieras' third commercial site, following its $850 million facility under construction in Mason County, West Virginia. The Cora Terminal's strategic location and infrastructure capabilities are key attractions. It can accommodate four unit trains simultaneously, has the capacity to move over 11 million tons of coal annually, and possesses more than 300 acres of developable land. Under the LOI, the parties will engage in site due diligence, engineering, permitting, and infrastructure assessment, as well as negotiate definitive lease and transportation agreements.
