Greenland Mines Ltd (NASDAQ: GRML) has announced key corporate milestones as it transitions into a focused rare earths and critical minerals company, including plans to spin off its biotechnology division in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company also confirmed that Nasdaq has formally approved its application relating to the March 2026 transaction, resolving prior deficiencies and bringing the company into full compliance with listing requirements.
The company completed its acquisition of the Sarfartoq project on Sept. 1, following approval by the Government of Greenland. An independent S-K 1300 Initial Assessment for the ST1 deposit estimated a high-case pre-tax net present value of approximately $2.05 billion and a pre-tax internal rate of return of 118.6%. According to the company, planned annual neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) oxide production from ST1 would equal approximately 34% of current NdPr oxide refining outside China, based on 2025 consumption levels during each of the project's nine scheduled operating years.
As part of its strategic focus, Greenland Mines is reshaping its board. Riad El-Dada and Dr. Shalom Hirschman are stepping down, and capital markets veteran Jason Hawkins is joining the board as the company advances its Sarfartoq and Skaergaard projects. The Skaergaard project is a palladium-gold-platinum project in southeast Greenland, while Sarfartoq is a NdPr rare earths project in southwest Greenland.
The company's strategy centers on building a multi-asset platform with exposure to rare earth magnet materials, precious metals, and selected midstream processing opportunities, while advancing its broader North Atlantic Critical Metals Corridor vision, which links Greenland resources with allied downstream jurisdictions and industrial infrastructure.
This move is significant as it positions Greenland Mines to capitalize on the growing demand for rare earth elements, which are critical for various technologies including electric vehicles, wind turbines, and defense applications. By spinning off its biotech division, the company can dedicate resources to its mining operations, potentially increasing shareholder value. The Sarfartoq project's high NPV and IRR underscore its economic viability, and the company's compliance with Nasdaq listing requirements signals stability and governance.
