IBU-tec advanced materials AG is making scheduled progress on its large-scale production facility for LFP battery materials in Bitterfeld, Germany, with logistics infrastructure construction and detailed engineering underway. The company announced on July 15, 2026, that the steel structure for a new logistics hall, capable of storing approximately 1,800 pallets, has been erected on site, and interior fit-out is expected to be finalized within the next six months. Additionally, detailed engineering for the production facilities has commenced, and trial operations for the new state-of-the-art spray tower are slated to begin in Q4 2026.
The facility, which is set to begin operations in 2028, will have an annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes, increasing IBU-tec's existing capacities by roughly five times. It is the first of its kind in Europe and is based on a proprietary production process developed by IBU-tec that avoids reliance on Chinese technology and is tailored to the European market. The battery material produced will feature a superior CO2 footprint, consuming only about half the energy compared to conventional processes from China. PowerCo SE has contractually secured the entire production volume for a minimum of ten years, as per the agreements detailed in the ad hoc release dated October 6, 2025.
