InnoEX and Hong Kong Electronics Fair Attract Over 88,000 Global Buyers, Showcasing AI and Robotics as Key Drivers of Hong Kong's Innovation Hub Ambitions

The combined InnoEX and Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) concluded on April 17, 2026, having attracted over 88,000 buyers from 155 countries and regions, according to organizers the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). The events underscored Hong Kong's role as a bridge between mainland Chinese technology firms and global markets, particularly amid heightened geopolitical tensions.

Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, stated that the exhibitions leveraged Hong Kong's unique advantage in connecting the Chinese Mainland and the world. The HKTDC provided a platform for mainland enterprises to expand overseas and for global companies to enter Asian and mainland markets. The events align with China's 15th Five-Year Plan and Hong Kong's latest Budget, which prioritize AI and cutting-edge technologies.

A key highlight was the newly launched RoboPark, featuring over 100 robots from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, and overseas. UBTECH, the world's first Hong Kong-listed humanoid robot company and a top-five global vendor by sales, reported results beyond expectations, engaging buyers from the mainland, the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia. The exhibition's focus on AI+, robotics, low-altitude economy, property technology, and retail technology drew exhibitors from 21 countries, including pavilions from the UK and Macao, with Macao exhibitors alone holding over 280 business meetings in the first three days.

Major technology firms such as Huawei, China Mobile Hong Kong, HKT, and Lenovo participated. Huawei concurrently organized Huawei Hong Kong Tech Week 2026 with 12 themed events exploring AI+ applications. The Chinese Mainland pavilions included 17 provinces and municipalities; the Zhongguancun Beijing Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation Center reported strong interest from Brazil, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and the Middle East on the first day.

The Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) showcased smart living electronics, health tech, and pet intelligence, with about 60 products launched for the first time. HelloBaby, a local baby monitor company, noted that buyers came mainly from Japan, Korea, and Singapore. Carmate Electronics Pty Ltd, an Australian automotive electronics manufacturer, recorded potential transactions of around US$200,000 on the first day and expects follow-up orders of US$400,000 to US$500,000. General Manager Michael Lin highlighted Hong Kong's role as a bridge amid heightened China-US tensions.

Buyer Pari Jazz from Germany's P.J Global Way Management Ltd said the exhibition helped her place orders and stay abreast of market trends, arranging about 12 business meetings and identifying two to three potential partners. Over 100 events with more than 260 speakers covered industry trends, including a session on 'From +AI to AI+' and a 'Low-altitude Economy Development Conference' featuring Hong Kong Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong and Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of AI and Digital Development Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev. A seminar on 'Embodied AI in Robotics' explored autonomous systems transforming industries like education and services.

Surveys conducted during the fairs revealed that 81% of respondents are interested in expanding into emerging markets, 78% have explored or adopted generative AI, and 59% of electronics fair respondents expect sales revenue to increase in the next one to two years. Among InnoEX respondents, 42% applied generative AI to sales and customer communications, 40% to data analysis, and 39% to product design. Additionally, 33% of electronics fair respondents believe consumers are willing to pay an 11% to 20% premium for smart home or AI-enabled products. The events reinforced Hong Kong's position as a critical hub for innovation and technology, facilitating cross-border business and technological exchange.
