The Keep A Breast Foundation (KAB) is set to present the 2026 High Desert Collection, an art exhibition that merges creativity with breast health advocacy. Opening September 18–20, 2026, at the Likker Barn in Pioneertown, California, the event marks the second edition of this unique initiative. The exhibition pairs original chest casts of over 30 local community members with artists who transform them into one-of-a-kind works of art, aiming to honor the region and spark conversations around breast health and prevention.
Founded by Shaney jo Darden and curated by participating High Desert artist Clair Case, the collection is a testament to KAB's mission to reduce breast cancer risk and its impact globally through art, education, prevention, and action. The opening reception on Friday will require RSVP, while the public can view the exhibition on Saturday and Sunday. This event is strategically timed to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, during which the chest casts will be displayed inside participating businesses along Highway 62. This month-long public art experience will run alongside the Hwy 62 Open Studio Art Tours, offering extensive visibility and engagement.
In addition to the exhibition, KAB is launching Bucks for Boobies, a community-wide fundraising and awareness campaign. This initiative supports breast cancer prevention and directly benefits Keep A Breast, encouraging local businesses and individuals to participate in driving positive change.
The Keep A Breast Foundation has been a pioneer in youth-centric breast health education since 2000. By focusing on Gen Alpha, Gen Z, and millennials, KAB fills a critical gap by reaching young people before they become patients. Through programs like the "i love boobies!" bracelet campaign and the Keep A Breast app, the organization provides accessible, shame-free education about breast self-examination, risk reduction, and environmental health. KAB treats young people as partners in their health, not just future patients.
The 2026 High Desert Collection underscores the importance of early education and community involvement in breast cancer prevention. By integrating art with a public health message, KAB continues to break down barriers and foster open discussions about a topic that is often stigmatized. The exhibition not only showcases the creativity of local artists but also serves as a powerful reminder that breast health is a communal responsibility.
As the organization prepares for this impactful event, it invites the community to engage with the art and the cause. The exhibition at the Likker Barn in Pioneertown promises to be a cultural highlight, blending the unique character of the High Desert with a vital health message.
