Nordex Group Secures 77 MW Order for Romanian Wind Farm

The Nordex Group has received an order from Swedish renewable energy company OX2 to supply and install 11 N175/6.X turbines for the Urleasca wind farm in Romania. The contract, which includes a 35-year Premium Service agreement, adds a total installed capacity of 77 MW to Nordex's portfolio in the region.

The Urleasca wind farm, located near the village of Urleasca in Brăila County, approximately 150 kilometers northeast of Bucharest, is slated to commence construction in Q3 2026, with commissioning planned for the second half of 2028. The project holds a long-term Contract-for-Difference (CfD) with the Romanian State, providing revenue certainty and underscoring the country's commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity.

In parallel with the Nordex order, OX2 has sold the ready-to-build wind farm to Norwegian renewable energy solutions provider Scatec ASA. OX2 will oversee the entire construction phase, leveraging its international project development expertise.

Slava Feklin, Country Manager Romania and Ukraine at Nordex Group, emphasized the strategic importance of the project: "We are delighted to further strengthen our transnational cooperation with OX2 – this time in Romania. The country continues to offer attractive opportunities for the deployment of modern wind energy technology. By combining OX2’s international project development expertise with our latest N175/6.X technology, all companies will deliver efficient and competitive renewable electricity to the Romanian market."

The Urleasca project further consolidates Nordex Group's presence in Romania, where the company has contracted more than 500 MW in recent months. This order highlights the growing momentum for wind energy in Southeastern Europe and the collaborative efforts of key industry players to meet the region's clean energy targets.

The N175/6.X turbine is part of Nordex's latest generation, designed for low-wind sites, offering high efficiency and reliability. With a rotor diameter of 175 meters, it is well-suited for the wind conditions in the region.

This development comes as Romania aims to increase its renewable energy share, supported by CfD schemes that provide stable investment frameworks. The Urleasca project is expected to contribute significantly to the local grid and support the country's energy transition goals.

The order also underscores the robust partnership between Nordex and OX2, which have collaborated on multiple projects across Europe. The 35-year service agreement ensures long-term operational support and performance optimization for the wind farm.
