PFISTERER Invests $2.7 Million in Rochester Facility to Boost North American Production of SICON Connectors

PFISTERER is significantly expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint with a $2.7 million investment in its Rochester, New York facility. The investment will add three additional CNC lathes, tooling, and related production equipment, enabling the company to increase production capacity for SICON shearbolt connector components by two and a half times. This move underscores the company's commitment to the North American market and its strategy to localize production for U.S. customers.

The expansion comes as more than half of PFISTERER's SICON connectors are now sold in the United States. By shifting production to Rochester, PFISTERER aims to meet this demand directly from the U.S. plant, strengthening its delivery capacity, flexibility, and resilience in a key growth market. Rochester will play a central role in PFISTERER's global production network, supporting the company's "Local-for-Local" approach.

SICON is PFISTERER's shearbolt cable connection system designed for secure electrical and mechanical connections. These connectors are compatible with a variety of conductor materials, cable types, and cross-sections, and are electrically and mechanically type-tested in accordance with IEC 61238-1, Class A. They have also been tested according to the North American standard ANSI C119.4 and are the only connectors that meet the Class 2 requirements of this standard. This makes SICON connectors particularly relevant for the expansion of power infrastructure, especially for supplying power to data centers.

The rapid expansion of data centers in the U.S. and globally is driving increased demand for SICON connectors. Data centers require high-performance and exceptionally reliable connections to the power grid to ensure a secure and scalable power supply. PFISTERER's investment in Rochester directly addresses this need, positioning the company to capitalize on the growing demand for critical digital infrastructure components.

With this expansion, PFISTERER is advancing its "Local-for-Local" strategy, manufacturing products for the U.S. market directly in the U.S. rather than importing them from Germany. This approach shortens delivery times, improves responsiveness to customer needs, and reduces transportation-related emissions. The investment not only increases production capacity but also creates additional qualified jobs at the Rochester site.

"With the expansion of our production in Rochester, we are taking an important step in our growth strategy for the U.S. market," said Johannes Linden, member and spokesperson of the Executive Board of PFISTERER Holding SE. "We manufacture where our products are needed, thereby strengthening our local presence and enabling us to supply our customers more quickly and flexibly. The investment not only significantly increases our production capacity but also creates additional qualified jobs at the site."
