PNE Sells Two Repowering Wind Farms to Private Investors, Boosting Renewable Capacity by 45 MW

The PNE Group, a leading clean energy solutions provider, has successfully sold two wind farm projects to a small group of private investors. The projects, “Wulfsdorf A” in Schleswig-Holstein and “Kuhstedt III” in Lower Saxony, have a combined nominal capacity of 45 megawatts (MW). This transaction underscores the ongoing attractiveness of high-quality wind energy projects to investors and highlights the strategic importance of repowering existing wind farm sites.

Both wind farms are repowering projects, which involve replacing older turbines with modern, more powerful technology. This approach enables significantly higher renewable electricity generation at locations already optimized for wind energy production. By repowering, PNE is maximizing the efficiency of existing sites, deploying cutting-edge turbine technology, and substantially increasing clean energy output. According to PNE, the two projects will generate enough electricity to supply the equivalent annual demand of approximately 31,000 three-person households.

The “Wulfsdorf A” wind farm, located in the district of Ostholstein, comprises two Vestas V150 turbines (6.0 MW each) and two Vestas V162 turbines (6.2 MW each), totaling 24.4 MW. Construction is already underway, with commissioning scheduled for December 2026. Meanwhile, the “Kuhstedt III” wind farm in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) will have a capacity of 20.6 MW, featuring two Nordex N175 turbines (6.8 MW each) and one Nordex N163 turbine (7.0 MW). Its construction is also in progress, with expected commissioning around the turn of 2026/27.

Roland Stanze, COO of PNE AG, commented on the sale: “By selling ‘Wulfsdorf A’ and ‘Kuhstedt III’, we continue our successful marketing of high-quality wind farm projects. Both projects demonstrate the value of repowering: we are making more efficient use of existing sites, deploying modern and highly efficient turbine technology, and significantly increasing renewable energy generation. At the same time, the transaction underscores the attractiveness of our projects to investors. Through the operational management services, we will also remain closely connected to the wind farms.”

The operational management of both wind farms will be provided by energy consult GmbH, a subsidiary of the PNE Group. This ensures that PNE retains a continued role in the performance and maintenance of the projects, supporting long-term efficiency and reliability.

This sale follows a series of successful disposals by PNE this year, including the “Romescamps” wind farm in France (10.8 MW), the “Bokel” wind farm in Germany (25.2 MW), a wind farm project in Poland (72 MW), and a photovoltaic project in Poland (approximately 40 MW). These transactions reflect PNE’s robust project development pipeline and its ability to deliver value to investors while advancing the global transition to renewable energy.

The PNE Group, listed on the SDAX, has over 30 years of experience in developing onshore wind farms worldwide. The company focuses on wind energy and photovoltaic projects, as well as power generation from its own wind farms. Its services cover all project planning phases, from site investigation and permitting to construction, operation, and repowering. As a Clean Energy Solutions Provider, PNE also offers lifecycle services for wind and solar plants, along with battery storage solutions to enhance the efficiency of renewable energy integration.
