Produced from 1956 to 1975 in Kopřivnice, Czechoslovakia, the Tatra 603 was a marvel of engineering. Its air-cooled 2.5-liter V8 engine, mounted behind the rear axle, was a distinctive feature that set it apart from other luxury sedans of the era. The 1967 model on display has recently undergone a restoration, including an overhaul of its engine, and shows just over 46,000 kilometers (approximately 29,000 miles) on the odometer. The car's design includes a four-headlight front fascia, Dagmar-style bumper overriders, and a split rear window, making it instantly recognizable.
The T603's engineering was ahead of its time, featuring unibody construction, MacPherson strut front suspension, swing axles in the rear, and hydraulic drum brakes. Inside, the cabin offers a blend of elegance and simplicity, with a Blaupunkt push-button radio and a two-spoke steering wheel framing a 180 km/h speedometer. This vehicle was relocated to the Netherlands in the 1980s before joining the Sturgeon Collection.
