Smiles for Life campaign launches 29th annual teeth whitening fundraiser for children's charities

The Smiles for Life campaign, now in its 29th year, provides patients an opportunity to brighten their smiles while supporting children's charities. Since its inception in 1998, the initiative has raised more than $51 million. The campaign runs from March 1 to June 30, during which patients can schedule teeth whitening treatments at participating Crown Council dentist offices. For each whitening treatment, the dentist donates their time and expertise, while Ultradent Products, Inc., maker of Opalescence whitening systems, donates 100 percent of the materials. As a result, the entire cost of each whitening goes directly to the Smiles for Life Foundation.

Fifty percent of the proceeds support seriously ill, disabled and underprivileged children worldwide through Smiles for Life. The remaining 50 percent stays in the local community, as each dentist selects a beneficiary charity of their choice. For patients seeking straighter teeth, Smiles for Life partners with Tréz clear aligners, with a portion of each treatment cost donated to the foundation.

“We are proud to offer this unique opportunity to do good simply by having teeth whitened or straightened,” said Greg Anderson, director of the Crown Council. “The Crown Council is grateful to our dentists, patients and corporate sponsors, who together have made the Smiles for Life Campaign a tremendous success.” Since its launch, Smiles for Life dentists have supported more than 600 local children's charities. The foundation also supports national and international oral health programs in countries including the Dominican Republic, Nepal, Bolivia, and Guatemala, and maintains a partnership with the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation, which supports Child Life Zones in U.S. children's hospitals.
