Stabilus SE (WKN: STAB1L, ISIN: DE000STAB1L8), a leading supplier of motion control solutions, announced the consolidation of its industrial automation business under the Stabilus4Automation umbrella. This move leverages synergies across its expert brands—ACE, Destaco, Fabreeka, and Hahn Gasfedern—to provide scalable automation solutions, including end-of-arm tooling and robotics integration. The company aims to capture a share of the global addressable market for end-of-arm tooling, gripping systems, and robotic tooling solutions, estimated at approximately EUR 3 billion, with a long-term goal of generating EUR 500 million in revenue from new, high-margin innovation products.
Stabilus CEO Dr. Michael Buchsner emphasized the strategic importance of industrial automation, stating, "With Stabilus4Automation, we are leveraging synergies within the group to further develop our technology portfolio in a targeted manner and offer integrated solutions for demanding automation applications, which also explicitly includes solutions in robotics." The company plans to gradually implement its automation solutions in its own production plants to optimize manufacturing processes and incorporate practical experience into product development.
The automation solutions range from damping technology and speed control to vibration isolation, tailored to customer-specific requirements. An example of this integrated approach is a handling solution developed jointly by Destaco and ACE, combining automation expertise with damping technology to create a powerful end-of-arm tool (EOAT). By integrating ACE’s MC series miniature shock absorbers, the EOAT enhances handling of varying package sizes while protecting equipment and improving overall efficiency.
Industrial robotics represents an attractive growth area for Stabilus, with existing products increasingly deployed in highly dynamic, automated processes. The company is already working with over 100 partners worldwide in robotics and has developed a 360-degree drive solution for robot joints in a pilot project. Jurgen Roland, Head of the business unit Industrial Components, noted, "We view industrial automation as an integrated system of the required movements – from the gripper and vibration isolation to drive solution."
The company expects the Automation segment, including robotics, to make a significant contribution to its revenue target. Driven by trends such as skilled labor shortages, rising quality demands, and the need for efficient manufacturing, industrial automation and robotics continue to gain importance. Stabilus' solutions are designed to be modular and scalable, allowing flexible integration into existing production lines.
