TNT Highlights Quality Factors Beyond Protein Grams in Whey Products

True Nutrition Technology (TNT), a German sports nutrition brand, is urging consumers to look beyond the protein gram count when selecting whey protein products. The company argues that factors such as protein type, processing methods, formulation, and taste are equally important in determining overall quality.

Markus Himmelstoss, Managing Director of TNT, explained that while protein content is crucial, it does not provide the full picture. “Consumers also care about ingredient quality, how easily a product mixes, how it feels when they drink it and, ultimately, whether they enjoy the taste enough to use it consistently,” he said.

A key distinction consumers encounter is between whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate. Both originate from whey, but isolate undergoes additional processing to remove more fat, carbohydrates, and lactose, resulting in a higher protein proportion. This makes the type and quality of whey a critical consideration alongside total protein per serving.

TNT's CLEAR WHEY product uses specialized whey protein isolates to deliver a different drinking experience compared to traditional thick, creamy shakes. Instead, it mixes into a lighter, more refreshing beverage with an iced-tea-like feel. The specialized isolates provide a smoother mouthfeel and allow for fruit-inspired flavors that are less typical of conventional protein shakes.

Himmelstoss emphasized that taste and texture are integral to product development. “The best nutritional formulation isn't very useful if consumers don't enjoy drinking it,” he said. “Taste, texture and mixability aren't afterthoughts for us. They are part of the product development process from the beginning.”

TNT suggests consumers evaluate whey products based on several factors beyond protein grams: the form of whey used, overall ingredient quality, mixability, taste and texture, and manufacturing standards. Consistent sourcing and production processes help maintain quality from batch to batch.

This focus on the entire product experience reflects TNT's approach to sports nutrition development in Germany. CLEAR WHEY is part of TNT's growing U.S. portfolio, which also includes Creapure® Creatine Monohydrate and Synapse Rush pre-workout. TNT has served over 500,000 customers and is bringing its German approach to formulation and ingredient selection to U.S. consumers.

CLEAR WHEY Protein Isolate is available on OneLavi, and TNT's other products can be purchased on Amazon and OneLavi. The company, founded in 2012 by former athletes Michael Weigl and Markus Himmelstoss, produces supplements under strict German quality standards, with every product independently lab-tested.
