Ucore Rare Metals Supports Partner Acquisition of Thailand Rare Earth Processing Facility

Ucore Rare Metals Inc. (TSX.V: UCU) (OTCQX: UURAF) has voiced support for its partner Hastings Technology Metals and Wyloo in acquiring a fully permitted mixed rare earth chloride production facility in Thailand. The acquisition is expected to accelerate the near-term processing of monazite feedstock and strengthen a Western-aligned rare earth supply chain, according to a press release from the company.

The development supports ongoing discussions toward a long-term supply agreement tied to Ucore's Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex. Ucore is working to integrate upstream supply with midstream processing and rare earth oxide production capabilities. The company stated that the Thailand facility will help bridge the gap between raw material sources and final processing, reducing reliance on Chinese-dominated supply chains.

Ucore's vision includes disrupting the People's Republic of China's control of the North American rare earth element (REE) supply chain through the near-term development of a heavy and light rare-earth processing facility in Louisiana, subsequent Strategic Metals Complexes (SMCs) in Canada and Alaska, and the longer-term development of its 100%-controlled Bokan-Dotson Ridge Rare Heavy REE Project in Southeast Alaska. The Thailand facility aligns with this strategy by providing an immediate processing outlet for monazite, a key feedstock.

The acquisition comes at a critical time when global demand for rare earth elements is surging, driven by their use in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and defense applications. By securing processing capacity outside China, Ucore and its partners aim to create a more resilient and diversified supply chain for Western markets. The company noted that the facility is fully permitted, reducing regulatory risks and allowing for a quicker ramp-up of production.
