UGI Natural Gas Supply Rates to Remain Stable Through November, Increase Expected in December

UGI Utilities, Inc. announced today that its purchased gas cost rates for natural gas customers will remain unchanged on June 1, 2026. The company, which serves more than 760,000 natural gas and electric customers across 46 counties in Pennsylvania and one county in Maryland, cited stable wholesale natural gas prices as the reason for the rate hold. However, UGI projected that rates will increase on December 1, 2026, reflecting anticipated higher costs in the wholesale natural gas market during the winter heating season.

The purchased gas cost rate is a pass-through charge that reflects the actual cost UGI pays to buy natural gas for its customers. The company does not profit from this charge. By keeping the rate steady through the summer and fall, UGI aims to provide predictability for customers as they plan their energy budgets. The projected December increase aligns with typical seasonal patterns, as demand for natural gas rises in colder months, leading to higher market prices.

UGI encourages customers who may struggle with energy costs to explore assistance programs. The company offers various payment plans and energy efficiency tips to help manage usage. More information can be found on UGI's website at www.ugi.com. Additionally, customers can follow UGI on social media for updates: Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

The announcement comes as part of UGI's quarterly rate adjustment process, which reflects changes in the wholesale natural gas market. The current stable rates offer a temporary reprieve from the volatility seen in energy markets in recent years. Customers are advised to monitor their usage and consider enrolling in budget billing plans to even out monthly payments.
