Verite Capital Partners, a Stamford, CT-based advisory and investment firm, has appointed Sumit Majumdar as Vice Chairman, Chief Sustainability Officer, and Operating Partner, signaling an expanded commitment to environmental sustainability and economic development for underserved communities. The announcement was made by Don Jones, Chairman and Managing Partner of Verite Capital Partners, who noted Majumdar's strategic value in advancing economically viable green initiatives for employment, energy, and agriculture.
Majumdar, former President of Buffalo Biodiesel Inc., brings over two decades of experience in industrial scaling and circular economy frameworks. During his tenure, he grew Buffalo Biodiesel into a major multi-state enterprise serving over 30,000 locations, preventing significant greenhouse gas emissions through localized waste-to-energy systems. He is also the architect behind 'Project Green Logic,' a carbon-negative industrial hub and advanced materials research center, and has engineered international waste-to-energy frameworks across Ghana, Nigeria, and Mexico.
In his new role, Majumdar will oversee an international initiative to establish more than one million green jobs globally while reducing worldwide carbon emissions by one percent, with plans to scale operations systematically. 'The metric-driven target is to build an infrastructure capable of mobilizing 100 million individuals to secure environmental viability for subsequent generations,' Majumdar stated.
Don Jones, with nearly 50 years of executive leadership experience at Macy's, IKEA, GAP, and Target, founded Verite in 2009 to focus on scaling capital access and corporate education for diverse entrepreneurs. The firm manages $7 billion in current obligations and over $20 billion in committed investments, positioning it to deploy capital at scale for long-term global impact. Jones also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Felician University, received the 2024 Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award, and sits on the boards of Nuvance Health and Northwell Health.
Majumdar's appointment strengthens Verite's leadership in the global green transition, leveraging high-level corporate finance for environmental stability and equitable opportunity. For more information, visit Verite Capital Partners.
