Viromed Medical AG, a medical technology company specializing in cold plasma technology, has received funding approval from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space for research and development projects. The certification, granted under the Research Allowance Act (FZulG), comprises funding in the high six-figure euro range, according to a company announcement.
The funding will support the further development of innovative medical systems for the application of cold atmospheric plasma. Key projects include a stationary system for integration into ventilation processes, known as PulmoPlas®, and a mobile device for contact-free plasma application to support wound healing, called ViroCap®. The PulmoPlas® system aims to selectively inactivate pathogenic germs in the lower respiratory tract, potentially enabling new therapeutic approaches in intensive care medicine. The ViroCap® device addresses the need for advanced wound care solutions.
Both projects target critical medical challenges and aim to expand the current state of the art. The application of cold plasma in the lungs represents a novel approach for which no comparable systems currently exist, underscoring Viromed's innovative capabilities and the scientific relevance of its solutions. With this funding, Viromed is advancing the development of these technologies and strengthening its position in the field of non-pharmacological treatment of infectious diseases.
Viromed Medical AG, listed on the stock exchange since October 2022, focuses on the development, manufacture, and distribution of medical products through its wholly owned subsidiary Viromed Medical GmbH. The company serves a broad customer base in the DACH region and beyond. Viromed aims to further advance the use of cold plasma technology in medicine and realize corresponding growth potential.
