Viromed Medical AG, a medical technology company specializing in cold plasma technology, has announced the appointment of Prof. Dr. Michael A. Rubhausen to its Medical Advisory Board, effective immediately. The physicist and expert in spectroscopy brings extensive scientific knowledge in the fields of spectroscopy and materials research to the board.

Prof. Dr. Rubhausen heads the Optics Working Group at the Institute of Nanostructure and Solid-State Physics at Universität Hamburg and serves as the Institute's Managing Director. He is also affiliated with the Center for Free-Electron Laser Science (CFEL). His research focuses on modern spectroscopic methods, including Raman spectroscopy and ellipsometry, which he uses to study superconductors, quantum materials, and biological and inorganic samples at large-scale research facilities such as PETRA III and FLASH.

His interdisciplinary scientific work includes more than 180 publications with approximately 4,000 citations, contributing to renowned scientific journals like Physical Review Letters, JACS, Angewandte Chemie, Nature Chemistry, Nature Physics, Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, and Nature Communications. Additionally, his work involves developing AI-supported analysis workflows for complex, high-dimensional datasets.
